About This Tour
This tour is built around a simple idea: spend quality time observing and interacting with squirrel monkeys without turning the experience into a rushed photo stop. After pickup, the drive leaves the busy waterfront and moves toward greener countryside. On arrival, venue staff explain the rules that protect both visitors and animals, including how to hold food, where to stand and why sudden grabbing or chasing is not allowed.
During the encounter, the monkeys move freely within their managed habitat. Some may approach immediately, while others keep their distance. That unpredictability is part of the experience. Staff share information about social behavior, diet and daily care, while guests have time for photographs and supervised interaction. Contact is never guaranteed because the animals choose how close they want to come.
Puerto Plata has more than one monkey-experience venue, and products marketed as 'Monkeyland' can use different facilities depending on departure point, capacity and supplier agreements. For that reason, this text intentionally describes the core experience without making claims about a specific property unless your reservation confirms it. Zipline, horseback riding or lunch can be sold as separate combination upgrades.

Pickup
Meet at the hotel or cruise meeting point and depart for the confirmed wildlife venue.
Scenic transfer
Drive through the Puerto Plata/Sosúa countryside while the guide explains the day's program.
Arrival and orientation
Check in, wash or sanitize hands as required, and review rules for safe animal interaction.
Monkey encounter
Enter the supervised habitat for observation, approved feeding and photographs. Encounter length depends on venue operations and group size.
Free time
Use a short period for additional photos, restroom break or gift-shop browsing if available.
Return
Travel back to the original pickup area with cruise timing adapted to the ship schedule.
